2008 PA Budget

Dear Representative DePasquale,

It's time for the state to stop funding new programs. Energy will take care of it's self as alternatives become financial feasible. The states primary funding goal should be to move towards funding education to the same percentage of the budget as it use to. That would be the biggest impact on reducing property taxes. It's the addition of all these other programs that have eroded the funding of education and it must STOP!

The governor needs to work with congress to pass a budget without any requirements to pass other initiatives. Using the budget to pass legislation through the backdoor and then blaming the congress for its failure to pass the budget is disingenuous. This smacks as typical Philly style pay for play politics - after all, who will be the recipients of these initiatives? Any legislation should be able to stand on its own merits. What is the governor afraid of? Why is he employing budgetary blackmail?
